Proof of Process

Artplex Gallery is pleased to present Proof of Process, a group exhibition exploring how sculptural language emerges through repetition, material manipulation, and spatial rhythm. United by a deep sensitivity to structure and process, artists Jennyfer Stratman, D’Arcy Bellamy, and Axelle Gosse shape their work through acts of casting, cutting, and weaving. Whether tracing movement through metal or building intricate surfaces with fiber, each artist constructs compositions that emphasize gesture, accumulation, and the physical presence of form. The raw and tactile qualities of their chosen materials—whether steel, bronze, or thread—remain visible and integral, revealing the hands-on processes that shape each piece. Together, their works create a conversation grounded in process and abstraction—where structure, surface, and space are central to meaning.
Jennyfer Stratman approaches form as a meditative architecture of balance and connection. With a background in ceramics and a mastery of bronze casting, her sculptures reveal a dialogue between intricate surface and spatial openness. Delicate structures and branching silhouettes suggest abstract networks—internal and external, bodily and conceptual. Her work combines refined craftsmanship with quiet complexity, resulting in pieces that feel both intimate and expansive in thought.
D’Arcy Bellamy brings a unique approach to sculpture through his subtractive process using industrial steel pipe. By cutting away rather than adding material, he reveals flowing lines and generous negative space, transforming dense metal into weightless gesture. His minimalist forms operate like sculptural calligraphy—each curve and angle composed with immediacy and motion. The resulting works carry a sense of released energy, offering a compelling contrast of spontaneity and structure.
Axelle Gosse creates intricate wall-based compositions using rope, a material she transforms through knotting, weaving, and layering. Her background in decorative arts and extensive travels inform a practice that bridges fine art and textile traditions. Gosse’s abstract works are built from repeated gestures and structured arrangements, resulting in surfaces that are highly tactile and visually dynamic. Her use of rope emphasizes the physicality of construction and brings a dimensional, hand-worked presence to sculptural abstraction.
Together, the works in Proof of Process underscore the expressive potential of construction itself. Through casting, cutting, and weaving, Stratman, Bellamy, and Gosse embrace process as a sculptural language—one that builds complexity through simplicity, finds balance in contrast, and invites viewers to engage with form as both structure and sensation.
