Paradise
Paradise brings together works by Nelson De La Nuez and Marco Pittori, two artists drawn to the shimmering pull of desire and display. Their artworks render opulence with a clarity that feels knowingly composed, allowing each scene to carry its own self-awareness—an acknowledgment of the dreams, performances, and ideals woven into its surface.
Nelson De La Nuez draws from a vivid visual lexicon of luxury rooted in mid-century advertising and the aspirational imagery that surrounded it, creating compositions that feel both familiar and newly charged. His artworks weave together symbols of wealth and elegance into layered environments shaped by promises of escape and abundance. He introduces stylized protagonists who embody the poise, confidence, and charm of timeless luxury, their presence heightening the sense of performance that animates scenes of champagne, romance, and possibility. De La Nuez’s meticulous attention to surface, color, and composition heightens this sense of visual richness, allowing each artwork to unfold as a curated constellation of desire and nostalgia. His pieces capture the enduring appeal of the “good life,” presenting its symbols with clarity and intention, and revealing how these images continue to circulate through contemporary imagination.
Marco Pittori draws from moments of leisure, glamour, and private indulgence, presenting them through layered compositions that emphasize both allure and complexity. His scenes often center on glimpses of pleasure-driven spaces—poolsides, hotel balconies, sun-drenched afternoons—where beauty and ease are present but never the full story. Pittori builds these images through a process of mixing media, shifting color, and manipulating perspective, creating works that balance seduction with a subtle awareness of what lies just beyond the frame. His use of licensed photographs by Brad Elterman extends this sensibility, allowing him to weave archival glimpses of 1970s Los Angeles into new visual structures that feel at once familiar and slightly unsettled. Through this layering, Pittori offers images that hold their shine while hinting at the tensions and charged atmospheres that surround them.
Together, the works in Paradise reveal how images of aspiration persist in both personal and collective imagination. The exhibition presents a world shaped by sheen, desire, and performance—a place where luxury becomes not only a setting, but a lens through which stories are told and retold.
