Frederic Paul

Painter Frederic Paul's delicate and poetic artworks draw inspiration from his Asian roots, revealing themselves in expressive and elaborate compositions. Influenced by the bold colors, spices, flora, and landscapes of Asian cities, Paul skillfully captures the intensity of these environments in his depictions.

Paul’s style is confident and distinguishable. The complicated yet effortless-looking layers are composed of a range of media. Materials include torn sections of canvas, rice paper, acrylics, and oil. Paul’s paintings feel organic and alive with a sense of life that comes into being through their three-dimensionality and depth.

While the young artist continues to live and work in Munich and Landsberg am Lech, he has exhibited solo, and in group shows across the world. In addition to many exhibitions in Germany, Paul has also shown in London, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, and the USA.

Born in 1993 into an artist family in Munich, Germany, Paul expresses the connection to his inheritance in Philippines with reverence. Paul’s artworks are abstract and mostly inspired by the beauty of nature in Asia.

Raw Chinese rice paper is dyed with pigments, inks and dried. Each individual leaf is shaped by hand and is unique. The individual leaves are coated with oil and acrylic then collaged and refined. This process gives the artworks a special touch, an expressiveness and depth. “I want my art to set people’s feelings free, to create a true communication between my art and its beholder” says Paul.
