About
Nicola Katsikis’ artworks are creative combinations of her own photographs of street art and graffiti that she discovers in the urban environment around us. Each photograph adds color as well as depth to the artwork, showing the material the graffiti was painted on originally or revealing aspects of well-known places that we might have overlooked. Her artworks capture the vibrant and transitory nature of street art while simultaneously forming an entirely new artistic experience.
This 24" by 24" square artwork is wired and ready to hang. Katsikis created this unique artwork with a collage technique using her original photographs on a wood panel, and finished the front of the artwork with several layers of clear, glass-like resin, which enhances the colors and adds depth. The sides are painted black, and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable US and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity is included.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Nicola Katsikis moved to Los Angeles, embracing art as a lifestyle and surrounding herself with artists. Katsikis draws upon her extensive background in design and color but also keeps working on new ideas, experimenting with new materials and techniques. In the studio, nothing matters but the creation unfolding in front of her; the results can feel serendipitous, unforeseen, opportune.
She has been intrigued by graffiti from a young age, observing subway cars with colorful images. “I’ve always used the urban landscape as my inspiration, finding beauty where others may see grime. Graffiti is a natural expression of people’s feelings and emotions.” Photography has been her lifelong passion and she observes her surroundings, including train yards and alleys, to find intriguing motives to photograph.
