Glass Half Full: Jonjo Elliott at Artplex Gallery

Glass Half Full, Artplex Gallery’s solo exhibition by British artist Jonjo Elliott, explores inner paradise through brightly colored, large-scale still life paintings.

Glass Half full includes a collection of large-scale paintings evoking the idyllic island of Crete. Elliott’s still life works are a collision of expressionistic fauvism and his large-scale paintings encourage a youthful candor. Whimsical plants thrive in environments bathed in color and pattern. He’s interested in the crossover point between abstract and representational art and is constantly exploring where painting can take him and the viewer as a means of expression.

Elliott has always claimed himself to be a “glass half-full” kind of person and his artworks project such joy. His paintings are filled with exciting colors in an attempt to brighten the world around him.

“I have a knack for being happy most of the time and I want to share this with people that see my work. I want the works to offer an escape; somewhere viewers can lose themselves for a while amongst the colors.”

Join Artplex Gallery as we welcome British artist Jonjo Elliott to Los Angeles on July 18 from 6-9 pm. This bright exhibition, including a site-specific installation, will be on view during regular gallery hours until August 1.

Right at home in West Hollywood, Artplex Gallery is an expansive modern space with an intimate feel that allows for front-and-center focus on each artist. The reception will feature Jonjo Elliot’s solo installation in the main gallery.
